The second work featured below is more of a photoshop artwork than a photo. Vincent Dixons work is less about the photo, more about the sculptural, artistic qualities inside the image rather than the composition. I have experimented with long exposure painting with light before, I find it an interesting technique to work with. This work is interesting, I believe it was made using either a double exposure or a superposition of two photos. This work is intriguing in both the search for meaning and the pondering it provokes as to how it was made. Romain Laurent is another photographer who takes artistic photos and plays with the surreal. His work is executed well technically and is inspiring artistically. Jim Fiscus’s work is intriguing, the surreal nature of his photos show his ambition to create art rather than capture a moment in time. As such, the photographers who inspire me are those who I find interesting artistically. I pursued photography for the artistic merits, to create instant, reproducible art.
I completed a fine arts diploma last year, in this course we did a class in photography, we used black and white film and we were taught to frame the image and compose the shot to ensure one take, one shot, perfect image.
